Problems making my blog private

Is this a wordpress.com blog or a self-hosted WordPress blog?

Same here. Mine is what you call “self-hosted” , I suppose, using WP 2.8.1.

There are only 2 native Privacy options on a self-hosted WP blog:

1. I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers

2. I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors

Anything more than that requires a plugin.

Absolute Privacy just made it impossible to login to my site, as FireFox detected an infinite loop it can’t resolve.

Not sure if anyone will answer this…I can’t seem to find the definition of “normal users,” as in : “only visible to normal users”

I, unlike most people, want my (self-hosted) site / blog to be ENTIRELY PRIVATE……

So can anybody tell me who are the “normal visitors” who might visit me?

“Normal visitors” would be anyone who access your blog directly. The basic privacy control merely hides your blog from search engines and other bots. If you want even more private, try this plugin:
