Escape character throughout site

I’ve recently installed a nightly build to test to see if I want to use WP instead of MT. Install was simple, imported my MT posts and comments without a problem. But then I noticed that there was a backslash in front of every quote and apastrophe on my site. Such as follows:
I\a€?ve
\a€?blog\a€?
and this weird one:
There\\\a€?s
I thought it had something to do with my import, but then I noticed that it was also happening in the admin area too. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a fix for this? I’m thinking it’s probably something simple, but I just can’t figure out what’s causing it.
