• Hello, Joe. 1st, I want to preface my remarks by saying how much those of us who require accessibility appreciate your efforts on our behalf. I’d also like to state that I did buy the user guide–& yes, I actually read it on receipt :). Whether I got it through my thick skull is another matter entirely. I did feel privileged to support your work in some small way w/the purchase. You’ll also note that I have considerable experience using WordPress, as a hosting provider, a website developer, & a support contributor on the forums, so you’re not exactly dealing w/a rank newbie here.

Having thus stated, I’m having a bit of difficulty using the plugin w/NVDA. I think much of the problem has to do w/considerable extra verbosity when adding events. I could either do a skype call & let you hear what I’m experiencing, send an mp3, post the file to my server, or do anything else you ask me to do in order to demonstrate the problem. Or NVDA is available from nvaccess.org in the event you’d simply like to download it & give a listen for yourself. My experience is that of what seems to be considerable screen instability/extra movement that NVDA is trying to speak. I think standard dropdown lists & edit boxes for the date & time pickers would likely eliminate the problem.

I’d also suggest that the recurrence section might benefit from the ability to include/exclude certain days using checkboxes, ie, exclude Sundays, for example, by checking Mon-Saturday boxes, or by checking a Sunday box to exclude it, depending on how that particular section is written, obviously. I’m building a site for an online community of sight-impaired folks as I write this note that requires this sort of recurrence pattern.

Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

    Hi, Jackie!

I’ve found the date picker to be a frustrating item, as well. I intend to remove it at some point in the future – probably in the next major release, but haven’t decided exactly what the input will look like afterwards, yet.

For the meantime, you can disable it using this:

    https://github.com/joedolson/plugin-extensions/blob/master/my-calendar/mc-disable-datepicker.php

The above links to the code for a simple plugin to disable the datepicker.

The datepicker was expected to be better in later versions, but hasn’t improved like I’d hoped.

Thanks, Joe. That at least got the date picker out of my way. Now if I could just figure out how to make an event occur every day except Sunday, I’d be happier than a clam in wet sand.

You may want to have a look at the plugin called “Events Made Easy”. The date picker is a real PITA, (a show stopper in terms of accessibility, actually), but this author’s way of dealing w/exceptions when it comes to recurring events is pretty intuitive & might be worth your consideration.
