    Hi there,

I am a bit confused and wondering if anyone may be able to provide assistance. I understand all about creating the actual courses (click course, click create, then start) and think that part is great! Before I go further & purchase the full program, there is a big piece I don’t understand. What I don’t understand is how to create log in where people can create log in information then log in and choose the courses to take and enroll in the courses.

I would think that you would make a “page” titled “log in” but then what?

Overall what I want is for people to log in to the courses section of the website. Once they log in, they see a homepage/user dashboard. On this dashboard they see the different courses they can enroll in, courses they have enrolled in, grades, certificates they’ve earned, etc. How do I do this? How do I create the log-in (what does it link to?) How do I create the dashboard? How do I track user grades/certificates/etc?

    Does lifter do this?

Please advise!! Thank you SO much!!

I realized I had not completely run the set up wizard. I’ve got the dashboard & such now. I am still wondering about the log in/sign up page…
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thank you!

Okay, so I found this lifter link…https://lifterlms.com/docs/how-a-student-can-log-in-and-out/

In my “pages” I see a page titled…— Courses — Draft, LifterLMS Course Catalog | Parent Page: Students.

Is this the “my courses” page that is referred to in the lifterlms doc? If so, mine doesn’t show anything other than a blank page…is there any shortcode I need to put so that it has the log in screen like the lifterlms doc shows? Or is this only provided with the upgrade?

Thank you for your help & patience!!

    @thecontemporaryteacher,

The page you’re looking for is called the “Student Dashboard” and it’s automatically created for you when you run the setup wizard. I’m sorry for the confusion with the doc you’ve found. In older versions of LifterLMS we called this the “My Courses” page but we got a ton of complaints as many users don’t want to call their courses courses and the language seemed confusing. So we relabeled it “Dashboard” and I’m sorry I didn’t realize there were areas in our docs that still called it that old name.

In any event, the student dashboard automatically functions as a login page when you’re student is logged out and once logged in functions as the “dashboard” where they can review their courses, purchases, achievements, what have you.

Here’s the docs on the page: https://lifterlms.com/docs/student-dashboard/

Essentially you DON’T HAVE TO DO A THING if you’ve run the setup wizard.

You’ll want to review the other definitions of the required pages as well as I can sense confusion as to what those pages are intended to do as well: https://lifterlms.com/docs/lifterlms-required-pages/

I’m not sure why you have pages nested but I’d recommend unnesting your catalog from underneath your “students” page so that it will work properly too.

Okay, thank you! What does that mean “nested” and how do I unnest them?

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi @thecontemporaryteacher,

Nested pages just means that when you created the page it was assigned to a parent page.

You can fix this if you edit a page and locate the setting Page Attributes in the setting and remove whatever has been set for “Parent Page” changing it to “no parent”.

    I hope this helps!

Please let us know if you have further questions!

    Thanks and take care,
