Since the new update I am not able to set default product sorting on catalog page in customize settings. Sorting also does not work.

    Hi there @mborin,

What happens when you try to change the product sorting? Does it give you any error messages? Or does it just fail to save the setting after you change it?

I just checked on a couple of my personal test sites with the most recent versions of WordPress, WooCommerce, and our default Storefront theme — I was able to update the default product sorting under Customizer > WooCommerce > Product Catalog without any issues.

It’s possible your theme (or another active plugin) is causing the issue. Please try temporarily disabling all plugins except for WooCommerce, and switch back to a default theme like Storefront. After that, check to see if the issue is gone. If that resolves the issue, then re-activate your theme first, and then plugins one at a time until you find the one that’s causing the conflict.

You can read more about conflict testing in our Self Service Guide here:
    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-self-service-guide/

To avoid affecting your customers, you may want to do this on a test/staging site. If you don’t have one already, your hosting company might offer one as part of your package. Alternatively, you can use a free plugin like WP Staging for quickly creating a new test site.

Please let me know how that goes, or if you have any questions!

I am using Storefront theme. Saving does not work. When I select different sorting from dropdown the page changes but it does not sort properly. Just seems like random sorting no matter what choice I select.

Thanks for testing. It seems like something is interfering with the actions on the page; it’s possible it’s a page builder or similar, but it could be any other plugin that’s running.

Could you confirm you see the same behaviour with only WooCommerce plugin active?

Well, I am working in a localhost environment, on a Astra Starter site, however Astra is not a fly-by-night shop, and I would expect that their code does not interfere with Woocommerce logic (famous last words).

I have deactivated all of the other plugins, and only running Woocommerce.

Sort by price: high to low or low to high; the result of which is nothing but.

At first it seemed that the sort was based on regular price and did not consider the sale price.
A sort by price: low to high results in…
    $34.00
    $35.00
    $35.00 $25.00
    $35.00
    $35.00 $25.00
    $34.00
    $35.00 $28.00
    $34.00 $32.00
    $34.00 $25.00

Considering current pricing, this is not sorted low to high.

In a sort by price: high to low the first 3 products in the results…
    $29.99, $34.00, $35.00, $35.00 $25.00, $35.00, $25.00

That hardly seems correct. Something is rotten in Denmark, or Greenland. LOL
