bulk attach unattached images in media library – script, SQL query needed?

    i have a lot of unattached images in the media library that are used in posts/pages – this is due to me unattaching them at one time – don’t ask ??

    what i would like to do now is reattach those images using an automated process – i think what i need is a script or SQL query that will parse every post/page looking for images, then see if those file names exist in the library and, if so, attach them to the post/page

    i finally found a PHP script that i think will do exactly what i need, but it’s just that; a script – and i don’t know how to use it, so, 2 questions…

    1. can someone take a look at it (it’s very small) and give an opinion as to whether it should work and do what it’s supposed to do

    2. how do i run it? i have root access to the server
