Shipping Large Items

    First off, Im not sure if Im in the correct place sorry if Im not.
    Second, this is a funny one to resolve so bear with me.
    Ive been running this store now for around 6 months and its been going good so far with this one issue that I cant find answers to.
    I have to show “out of stock” on the large items because they exceed the max size/weight for Aust Post.
    How can I show in stock but force people to contact me for shipping quote ?
    I tried leaving the shipping blank but I had a couple of customers who purchased then complained when I sent an invoice for the postage.

    There’s no plugin for the carrier you’re using for the heavy big bulks items?

    How have you set up shipping currently?

    Can you use a shipping plugin that lets you set a maximum weight then switches off when that is reached?

    The shipping is just setup with the standard Australia Post plugin.
    On the whole it works fine. Its just with these large items that need to be packaged as 3 cartons where it falls down.
    I have added an “invoice” form of payment that somebody notified my of yesterday and I have added into the item description to use the invoicing option so we can add the shipping.
    We will see how that goes for a while, with any luck this might be OK for us.

    Got it. I’d look into an invoice plugin that can be added to the cart and make it so customers don’t pay right away. You send them a total after. That may be the process you want to take things. Not sure of how busy business is but that’s where my brain takes it.

    Following the above has added the “invoice” option for the entire cart so now I just need to see if customers can follow instruction.
    Or is there a plugin that would allow normal instant payment for most items but force invoice for the chosen few items?

    That’s a good plugin. Has a lot of options. I use it for our Wholesale customers as well. Did you buy the bundle set or just the single module?

    I didnt buy anything I just followed the instructions to change COD to invoicing ??

    Oh. I have the paid version for a larger site I did. It’s really nice. Glad you got it working.
