I have a client that accepts paypal payments but now that his site is growing he has decided to incorporate and with that he is moving to a new paypal account for accounting purposes. There used to be a nice itemized table that made it into the PayPal payment, showing SKU, quantity, product name, price, etc. That is not being pushed now though all that lands at PayPal is a text comment box that reads generically like “product name x1” it is missing everything else however so they have no clue what was sold without looking in woocommerce.

Now in woocommerce all I did was change the email for the new paypal account and added the ID token /API creds. We are also charging tax now so that is turned on as well. That should have stopped woocommerce from pushing all the info to paypal however so anyone have any thoughts on what would cause that. Paypal setting off?

    Hi there!

Just to confirm, you are using PayPal Standard that comes with WooCommerce as the payment gateway?

If yes, looking at the documentation, if you have now set your products to show prices including tax, what you are seeing now is the expected behavior.

Here is the section that covers that – https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/paypal-standard/#section-12

Yes the site uses paypal standard that came with the gateway. The product do include tax using that experiment feature so it is inclusive within the existing prices set on site. They log into paypal though and that is where they get the order info from they been doing it that way since before woocommerce was introduced and that is what they are comfortable with so how do I get it to push more info to paypal like it use to? Calculating taxes into the equation should require existing information to be less and as they sell outside of the web platform SKU etc help maintain proper stock levels.

The question is how can I get the info back into that paypal SKU epecially. Is there a plugin or setting I’m missing to facilitate that function?

PayPal Standard will only send the product name, price and quantity to PayPal.

If you would like to change that functionality, I would suggest you reach out to a developer to create a custom solution for you.

We highly recommend contacting one of the services on our Customizations page for help with that.
