Some grand child categories are not showing on breadcrumbs

    Hey there,

    I have clothing categories on my site, Men>Shoes>Basketball>”Product name” . Some of the grand child categories are not showing on the breadcrumbs, for example Men>Shoes>Soccer>”Product name” , Soccer shows on the breadcrumb but when I select a product from Basketball, it doesn’t show “Basketball” on the breadcrumb. I am sure that product is under that category, even on the product page it shows Basketball as Category.

    I contacted to theme author and their response was “Our theme doesn’t change breadcrumbs, it’s coming from woocommerce. Unfortunately, there is no any way to control them except customization https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/customise-the-woocommerce-breadcrumb/”

    Please help what could be causing this?

    Could you share a screenshot of your category overview (Products > Categories)? Could you also share one of the category settings part of your individual product?

    Finally, could you share a system status report (WooCommerce > Status)? This would help to have a quick look if other plugins could be overriding the default options of WooCommerce.

    Thanks @canyasa – that’s helpful.

    There are two major differences between your site and my test site.

    First of all, your site asks to make a “primary” category. That is not the case with WooCommerce core. My guess is that the plugin that’s causing this (and I think that’s Yoast), is just taking one of your two categories and listing that in the breadcrumb. You can test this either by disabling Yoast or by only selecting 1 category and see if that shows up on the breadcrumb.

    I would definitely start by exploring this option and not proceed to the second yet.

    Second, your theme has quite a few custom templates and you’re using a few other plugins; those could cause the difference. The best way to determine this is to:
    ?

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

    If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

    Hey @jobthomas,

    I disabled all the plugins expect WooCommerce and switch my theme to Storefront, still having the problem. When I select only “Basketball” category (Men>Shoes>Basketball) then it shows, but when I select parent categories then it doesn’t show “Basketball” on categories.
