How can I re-order or re-sort results?

Items are all appearing fine, but I need to change the order in which they are appearing. I can’t seem to find a way or short-code that allows for this (I tried a 3rd party reordering plugin that allowed drag-n-drop ordering, which was very nice, but it had no effect).
