After updating the plugin to version 1.19.5 on my site I received the following message from WordPress that identifies a problem with your plugin:

An error of E_COMPILE_ERROR was caused in line 90 of the file /data/vhosts/website.it/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/tag-groups/tag-groups.php. Error message:require_once():Failed opening required ‘/data/vhosts/website.it/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/tag-groups/vendor/freemius/start.php’ (include_path=’.: /Opt/plesk/php/7.2/share/pear’)

In fact, this error prevented non-administrator users from viewing any page on the site’s dashboard, accessible only to the Administrator.
I have provisionally reinstalled the previous version of the plugin, awaiting your correction of the error.

  • Could you please uninstall the plugin and reinstall it? If the file start.php is missing only for you, it looks like unpacking the zip file during installation didn’t complete properly.

Or try to upload the files directly with https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/tag-groups.1.19.5.zip

I had the same problem on three different sites: I don’t think that for all three sites the update had problems losing or corrupting the same page …
However, I try to install as recommended and I will be able to tell you.
    Thanks

    Hallo
I uploaded the plugin update via ftp, manually, and the result does not change: on frontend everything works, but accessing the dashboard with an inferior role as administrator the pages are empty with only the writing: capability check failed.

If I deactivate Tag Groups everything goes fine.

    Thanks

This error with “capability check failed” has been also reported and I am currently working on that.

So on all sites you receive that “E_COMPILE_ERROR”? Does it happen before the capability check failed?

The capability check issue should be fixed in 1.19.6.

Regarding the E_COMPILE_ERROR, I think that re-installation might help.
