• Hey guys, I am wanting to add a category (and all posts) to a page via shortcode or something of the like.

I have for now used the inbuilt ‘latest posts’ block but don’t like how it is a bullet point and would prefer it look more like the ‘category’ page – however you cannot edit those pages and add content other than the posts.

    Any help would be great!

  • There are many plugins that provide shortcodes for different lists of posts.
The only problem with using a Page with a shortcode is the URL is different than the category page, which will still be there (you will have both), and the pagination won’t work right. So generally, it’s better to use the category pages normally because they have the correct (single location for that content) URL and pagination works.

You can customize the category page by making a theme template file specific to each category. https://developer.www.ads-software.com/themes/basics/template-hierarchy/
Or you could alter the existing template file to output the category description on the first page of the category. The description can hold HTML, so you can put whatever you want in there. There are plugins to add a rich editor to the taxonomy description areas so that it’s easier for you to edit.

(Theme changes should be in a child theme, of course.)
