Create A Duplicate Site

I just finished installing and setting up my first wordpress blog and i love it… so i decided i wanted to make a second one just like it and just change the graphics… something went wrong… any help would be appreciated… heres what i did:

– Backed up the entire mysql DB
– copied and pasted the entire wp folder to the new site
– created a new db for the new site
– restored the original db to the new db and verified that all the folder were there and that I could connect to it with phpmysql
– opened wp-config.php and changed the db name, username & password.

when i try to login to the admin on the new site… i get the old can’t connect to the database message… did i miss a step somehere?
