    Hello Ben,

    I have a question / problem with the translation of woocommerce mails via Loco translate.

    The site/user is set to german (informal).
    My Translation files are stored in: /wp-content/languages/loco/plugins/kadence-woocommerce-email-designer-de_DE.po and .mo

    Then when I edit a woo mail (e.g. new order) in kadence/customizer it shows the correct strings from “kadence-woocommerce-email-designer-de_DE.po and .mo” for the mail subject and the mail Headline in the left pane fields of the customizer in grey (when nothing other is entered).

    The problem is that on the right side of the customizer (mail preview) and when I actually send the email it still shows/takes the strings from languages/plugins/woocommerce-de_DE.po

    So e.g. for heading text (new order) I have:

    In Customizer left pane (heading field) value: “Neue Kundenbestellung” (coming correctly from “kadence-woocommerce-email-designer-de_DE.po and .mo”)

    In Customizer mail preview/and sent mail: “Neue Bestellung: #{order_number}” (coming “incorrectly” from languages/plugins/woocommerce-de_DE.po)

    Could you pls. tell me what is wrong?

  • Hey,
    Just want to be clear, in your customizer you are not just defining the heading in the settings? You’re leaving it on the placeholder?

    I think in this case the issue is you would also need to translate the placeholder for Woocommerce core then.

    The placeholder shown in the email customizer is a string from this plugin because this plugin is creating the email customizer area. The placeholder in Woocommerce > settings > emails would be there placeholder. If those are begin translated separately then in the final output when our plugins customizer isn’t being loaded the string from woocommerce would be whats used.

    Does that make sense? Adding what you want into the settings would be my suggestion regardless.

    Hello Ben,

    thanks for your answer! “You’re leaving it on the placeholder?” -> Yes, you are right!
    I am wondering why the string(s) from your plugin (shown as placeholder text in the customizer) are different from the original woocommerce e-mail strings..

    So when one does not enter anything and sees your plugins placeholder text, I would assume that this is also the string (text) used in the sent mail.. I therefor find it a little confusing..

    Ben one more important question:

    If I’m going to edit the e-mail templates (php code) as well, do I have to copy them over to the childtheme folder before starting editing them with your plugin?

    Or can I edit them with kadence e-mail designer first (adjust footer/header/mail subject etc.) and then copy them into the childtheme folder – for further editing the template files..

    Hope you know what I mean..

    Hey,
    If you are going to override the templates then you don’t need to use this plugin, just copy straight from Woocommerce.

    When you edit with this plugin no php files are changed. You can edit the content all day the templates within this plugin are the same so if you are for some reason wanting to use this plugin and also to edit the templates yourself then you can copy the templates from this plugin to your child theme and edit. As long as you don’t remove the actions then this plugin will be able to customize the text.
