• Hi,

I’ve had a problem since trying to reinstall WP 2.7.1

I’ve gone right back to reinstalling all original files after deleting the first ones from the server.

Following the 5 min install I got as far as going to the install.php step and I get the following message:

“You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.”

When I go to the site all I get is a white screen!!!?

    Any help please.

    Jo.

  • I am reinstalling too after being infected with the latest eval_base hack. I have come up with the blank screen problem too and thought I had found the answer when I located this topic. Sadly there is no replies here. Did you sort out this problem ? If so please add some information as I am stuck.

I’m trying to solve a similar blank screen problem, and hoping for some help as well, but I think that the 5min install instructions FAILS TO MENTION a step or two that might be needed before a manual reinstall.

I think the database should be backed-up (exported and saved) and then emptied (dumped) before a manual reinstall. (I hate the dump part, The database has all of the content that have been written plus comments, some settings and such).

When you’ve finished the reinstall, you can import your old content back into the blog database again. Of course, those backed up tables are where any spam resides as well.

(Search for a WP database tutorial–or maybe youtube videos)

Might want to double check the help files for information on this process. I know I have to go back and look around this evening.
