Moderated Comment Email Not Working

I’m new to Word Press, and am just getting back to my blog. I had received many spam comments and they sat in my queue for moderation until recently. (The emails were going to the Junk folder in my gmail account.) Once I cleaned up (marked as Spam and Trashed them in WP, and deleted them from my Junk Inbox in Gmail, I have not received another email notification of a comment in the Moderation queue, eventhough I have “posted” several test comments. The test comments are showing in WOrd Press Comments as awaiting moderation.
At first I thought Gmail had blocked further emails from my word press site. When I checked my Gmail account, there are no filters set up, and nothing I can see that is blocking notifications.
I have made some changes to Comments in Word Press- under Discussion. Honestly, I don’t remember what all of them were. And I am not finding where Word Press knows what email to send comments for moderation. )I have NOT changed emails, and they were going to my gmail account previously.
Any thoughts on what to try or where to look?
