reading your docs., I see multiple mention of modifying the .htaccess file, which is apache specific and not supported on my nginx installation. Indeed, I get multiple .htaccess file missing errors on my current WP site. If a site is using nginx it seems that there are many expected URL rewrites which will simply not function as expected.

Many thanks in advance for any clarification of this point.

    Hi Richard,

Only the mod-rewrite would not work, and that’s used in download protection, but you can just link to files with the querystring instead and it’d work. See: https://s2member.com/kb-article/using-download-restrictions-with-nginx/

You can test in your installation and see if it does what you need it for. Let me know if you have any difficulties.

    I hope that helps! ??

    hi Cristián,

thanks for your prompt response. I’m thinking to avoid downloads direct onsite, so perhaps the issue is moot. In any case, thanks for the useful article tip.

I’d suggest putting it on your (probably long) TUIT list, to make the interface a tad more generic with regards both apache and nginx. I realize you probably have higher priorities every day, but if it makes the list, there’s hope it will be fixed rigorously ??

Also, much kudos for extending the useful life of s2, it looks like a very useful plugin, and I hope to “use it in anger” very soon!

    R.
