Like Intergalactic 2

Can you give a bit more info what you mean by “up to date”? If you’re speaking of the description page at https://www.ads-software.com/themes/intergalactic/, that’s referring to the original Intergalactic theme, not Intergalactic-2. We provide support for both versions in this forum, but Intergalactic-2 can only be installed via the Jetpack plugin, or downloaded from the WordPress.com theme page at https://wordpress.com/theme/intergalactic-2

That said, in this forum we can only help you with issues related to Intergalactic 2 itself. We’re not able to advise you on other, similar themes – there’s literally thousands of WordPress themes out there, and we only make a small handful of those, so your best option is to use filters available at https://www.ads-software.com/themes/ to search for themes with a similar layout and features.

has a way to have a blog page also and not just on the main page.

That has nothing to do with the theme. The ability to set a different page from the front page as your blog page is a core feature of the WordPress software.

Create and publish a new, blank page on your site for use as the blog page, and create a page you wish to use as the front page instead.

Then go to Appearance ->Customize ->Homepage Settings. Select the option to show a static homepage, and then use the drop down menus to assign the front page and posts page respectively.

Intergalactic 2 does nothing to override this default functionality of WordPress.

Intergalactic 2 hasn’t been updated in two years but I really like the look of the theme. Does it work with the block feature new to the latest wordpress?

Intergalactic 2 was last updated in February of this year. You can see this in the GitHub repository for this theme:

The theme listed at https://www.ads-software.com/themes/intergalactic/ which hasn’t been updated in two years is the original Intergalactic, Not Intergalactic-2. But we provide support for both versions in this forum, as Intergalactic-2 does not have a separate listing in the theme directory.

Does it work with the block feature new to the latest wordpress?

Both versions of Intergalactic should work just fine with the block editor, though we recommend you use Intergalactic-2.

I guess I got confused between the two. I did download the intergalactic 2 from wordpress.com is that the same as the GitHub one and will it be updated through WordPress or I do need to redownload it every time it’s updated?

Also, I don’t see a social link location for menu.

The version you downloaded from the WordPress.com theme showcase is the same one that’s in GitHub, yes. As far as I know that should update the same as any other WordPress theme, that is, when we release a new version, you’ll see the prompt to update in WP-Admin.

The social links menu in this theme is a feature added by Jetpack, so that plugin has to be installed on your site and connected to WordPress.com for that feature to be available.

I have jetpack installed but I haven’t set it up yet. That is probably it then. I have to wait until I get my domain transferred over.
