Hello, thanks for creating the plug-in, I think this is what I’m looking for. Here’s my scenario:

I have a site where I want individual clients to acces a separate private page so they can follow along and communicate via comments on the evolution of their project. I created two test users, each with the own private page, and can access this unique permalink from the user’s “edit private page” setting (as admin of course).

Then, I created a connection page for logging in, and added it to my menu. So here, I’m trying to set it up so that as each individual user signs in they are automatically redirected to their own personalized private page. On this connection page, I can create a specific global wppb-login redirect_url, but I need to create it as a variable url according to which user is logging in. What am I doing wrong?

BTW, I’m lot allowing users to register. I will create the user from my admin position and supply the client with the necessary credentials for connecting.

    Thanks for your response,

    Mike

  • Hi Mike,

    The solution is very simple.

The [client-portal] shortcode can be added to any page and when the logged in user will access that page he will be redirected to its private page.

We mention this on the main page of the plugin ??

Thanks for your quick reply. It’s still a little confusing (didn’t understand the pasting of [client-portal] shortcode on the log-in page.) Now it’s working for me with different users, however once a user logs in, they are redirected to the home page, and then they must click again on the log-in tab of my menu to be directed to their specific private page. Is this normal? Any way to have them directed right away to their private page?

On this log-in page I have created (available in the menu) preceding the [client-portal] shortcode is [wppb-login redirect_url=”https://www.my_site.com/log-in”%5D
—but of course if I replace /log-in with the slug for a private page of a certain user, all users will be directed to that page, no?

Sorry if I’m slow to understand, but it’s not very clear for me!

    Thanks again,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

No problem, I’m here to help.

Please use one of the following 2 ways, but not both at the same time.

    Either:

Use just one page with this content [wppb-login] [client-portal]

    Or:

Use 2 pages, one with: [client-portal] and one with [wppb-login redirect_url=”URL OF YOUR PAGE WITH THE CLIENT PORTAL SHORTCODE”]

    With the best of regards,
    Gabriel

This seems to be working for me in terms of redirecting, however – I noticed that now I can access any private page even when not being logged in. What I am looking for is a private page specific to the user (which works great), however – this page should only be accessible to the specified user AND it should not be accessible to any other logged in user. Can you assist?

    Hi there,

All private pages are available only to admins.

In order to see it how it looks like to a regular user you may use your browser’s private/incognito mode.

    With the best of regards,
    Gabriel
