• Something weird is happening on my site.

People’s names are being put to the wrong comments/likes.

In fact I have just liked someone’s comment on my blog today, and I then had a ‘like’ notification as if I had written that comment. That comment was attributed to me in the notifications panel. Before that, when I looked at the comments in the WordPress app on my phone, I saw that other users’ avatars were being put to the wrong names (but it’s not an issue for desktop version).

The other weird thing is that I have stopped receiving notifications of new comments on my blog, even though I have looked at all the settings that I’m aware of. I will only get notifications of likes and follows, not of comments. I have to manually check each blog post to see if there are comments. When I look at my site feed in the Reader app, users are able to comment as usual.

This has all been a problem since yesterday when GoDaddy upgraded the php on my site, at the same time as investigating why my site was down (it turned out to be a server issue on their side).

I have no idea whether the problems I’ve outlined above are due to GoDaddy, WordPress, or Jetpack. I have sent Jetpack an email in case it is them, but I don’t have any understanding of what’s going on. If someone can suggest anything to try, I will be grateful. I’m not a technical person at all.

    Thanks

    NS

  • It is not WordPress, since it has no code for likes or follows. That is all in a plugin, so you should seek answers from the plugin you are using.
