View WP site without disabling current static one?

  • Hi there,
    I have a static site and what will be the new WordPress site running in the same directory.
    If I try to view the WordPress version of my site I just see the current static site’s ‘index.html’

    If I rename/remove the static site’s index.html file I then see the WordPress version: presumably the ‘index.php’ takes effect.

    Is there any way I can view the wordpress version without disabling the static one? I tried using https://johniwhite.com/starwars/index.php’ but it still reverts to the ‘index.html’.
