Plugin Menu just prompts login in an endless loop

    Latest WordPress and PHP 7.0.30 and 7.2

    I think the Web Dev has installed a plugin that has some side effects, but the problem is……

    Click on the Updates menu item, prompts the login dialog which then just goes back to the main wordpress admin page. This goes around in a loop.
    So can not access the plugin menus at all.

    I renamed the plugin folder as a way of removing the plugins, but that did not solve the problem.

    Any suggestions…
