My website has hundreds of listings (directory site)

At the moment users can copy your shortcode [sbs_posts] to display the number of total posts in an wordpress article

I d like to do the same with Listings instead of posts

maybe a shortcode called [sbs_listings]

Is “listings” a custom post type? Or something else?

I’m not familiar, but you can ask the theme developer 1) if it is a Custom Post Type, and 2) the correct id (slug), for example is it “listings” or “listing”, etc. That information can be used to display the number of listings on your site.
