• Hello, I have 2 websites:

    https://www.site.it (italian)
    https://www.site.ch (switzerland, italian language)

These 2 sites have the same brand name: “site”. The only thing that differs is the content (language, pricing, and wording).

These 2 sites are separate, meaning that there are 2 different wordpress installations on 2 different servers.

Here is the problem: SEO. I want to avoid the duplicate content penalty and to rank only 1 site in each country.

    What are the options?

    A) keep them separate and manually add a custom field for hreflang purposes on each page?

    B) there is a plugin for duplicate sites with separate wordpress installations?

    C) I have to remove one site and use just one wordpress installation with a normal multi-language plugin?

  • B) there is a plugin for duplicate sites with separate wordpress installations?

There are several plugins to duplicate a site:

But that seems like overkill. Is there a possibility that you display a splash screen where the user has to select his country, and then redirect to the appropriate site? Or load the correct language instead of having two different sites?
