Yoast Developers (if any happen along) – It would sure be nice if you would give us a way to turn off schema elements from within the interface. I’m comfortable with code, but an interface solution would be far superior. Especially since I’m sure I’m not the only one who didn’t even realize this additional schema “feature” was added in.

Thanks for the suggestion! At this time an interface solution is not something we will be pursuing. You can view the discussion on this topic here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/12752.

The only workaround at the moment is to add the code using our documentation to disable the schema.
