Fixing [caption] shortcode

I’m having some trouble with the [caption] shortcode not working. The image displays fine but the caption does not.

Here’s what I have in the WP editor:

<figure>[caption]<img src="https://www.mysite.com/image-name.jpg" alt="" /><a href="https://photocredit.com">Photo Credit Link</a>[/caption]</figure>

When the page renders, only the image appears, but the caption (photo credit link) is stripped out.

Is there an easy way to find and replace in my database to get captions working? I have hundreds of posts with captions formatted this way, and none of them are appearing.
