  • There is nothing ‘causing this’ as that is the design as packaged. You are welcome to change the admin page’s layouts to suit you and your users as needed.

    I’m not sure what you mean about predetermined file restrictions… I believe the file size and extension (possibly) are the only two ‘restrictions’ that can be measured before or during the upload. Once the file is on your host, it can be examined a little more fully by the mechanisms that resize and reshape image uploads and pack them away for further use.

    If you choose to modify the admin files that are part of your theme then you might want to do those changes from a child theme. I recommend using this plugin to make the creation of a child theme simple and almost foolproof.
