I created Course Description using LifterLMS course setup. I created Sections and Lessons with video in the Course Builder. I published the course: TH001 – Introduction to Bible Doctrines. I then created an eBook (pdf format) for each course section. I learned that I had to use the Assignment tab in Course Builder. Upon accessing the Assignment tab I got a message stating I needed to purchase the addon for Assignment. As these courses will all be free and I’m on a seriously limited income (SS) I can’t afford to purchase the addon. I decided to use Elementor to create a Bookstore tab which would contain links to the eBooks. I wanted to add a statement as to how to access the eBooks on the LifterLMS course page. Therefore, in Course Builder, beside the Course Title, I click on the WP icon. I was carried to Edit with Elementor. I created 3 sections on the Elementor page with the text I needed. I published the course page. Now all that I created is showing in the Access Plan on my website (see the link above), but not in the Elementor page. I don’t know how to fix this. I can’t access the LifterLMS original course setup. I would hate to delete this course and start over.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @dr_dad,

Do you want the text in the Access Plan removed or just formatted correctly? To remove it, just go into the course page and delete the description in the Access Plan and save the access plan there. To get it to format correctly, you should be able to transfer the information from the Visual tab on the Access Plan description to the Text tab that can read the HTML.

Is there another aspect that’s missing on the course page or a lesson page? If so, could you provide us with screenshots (via a service like dropbox so that you can link the picture onto the thread since there is no way on the forums to just upload pictures) so we can get a better idea of what you’re trying to set up?

Additionally, I noticed that you have all your lessons set to free and I wanted to let you know that if you set the lessons to free it does not require enrollment to go through the course. As a result, LifterLMS will not track student data for anyone that is not enrolled in the course.

If you want to require student enrollment to access the free course, you will want to turn off free lessons and just have the Access Plan set to no payment required.

    I hope this helps!

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or if we can clarify anything further!

My website: https://www.globalchristianlearningcenter.com has been created to offer biblical, theological, and life application studies. The audience is anyone, even though I am putting this free site together for a fellow African missionary and African learners. I’m using only free tools and software, or those I already own.

    1. Thanks for sharing about marking all my courses free. I’ve gone into Course Builder and changed the payment setting from Free to Not Free (my words). I slide the button to off and saved.

    2. I continue to be unable to change the programming text from both the Visible and Text tabs in the Plan Description. I’ve even deleted the plan and re-worded it. I continues to display the old programming text.

    3. I plan to have only two pieces of content for each course, videos and ebooks.

    4. My website url is https://www.globalchristianlearningcenter.com. The menu tabs include: Home Page, About Us, Learner Affairs, Courses, Bookstore (links to free ebooks), Contact, and Purchase.

    5. As I don’t plan to charge for the courses, is the Purchase option necessary. Instead Could I replace it with a PayPal Donation option?

    Sorry, one more problem.

    6. In the TH001 – Introduction to Bible Doctrines course discription (see it under the Course tab for https://www.globalchristianlearningcenter.com. Just above the Instructor Heading is a paragraph in gray that I can’t remove. In the above mentioned course, I’ve gone to the WP page using Elementor (in Course Builder) but can’t find that paragraph. Where could this paragraph be located so I can remove it?

    Thanks, Again!!!

    Hi @dr_dad,

If you’re not able to remove the information or change it, this could mean there is some kind of Javascript error. Could you post a copy of your LifterLMS System Report? Review our guide to finding your system report. When posting your report, please follow the www.ads-software.com forum guidelines for posting code. This will help us determine if there is some kind of conflict or issue with the activity of your site.

Also if you could provide us with some screenshots of the issues you’re needing to correct. To attach screenshots you will have to use a service (Dropbox, Drive, Imgur, CloudUp, YouTube, etc…) and post a link to your screenshot.

The “purchase” on your navigation bar is just the LifterLMS Checkout page. You don’t need it in the menu at all, as your course is set to free so it will only serve as a register page. You can change the name and permalink of this page from purchase to “Enroll” and/or remove it from the main menu by locating it under “Pages” and editing the title and the permalink in the righthand sidebar of the editor page.

To remove it from the menu go to Appearance->Menus then you will need to click on the “Purchase” block in the menu editor and select “Remove”.

This paragraph wouldn’t be found in our Course Builder (or maybe we’re not referring to the same thing?) Our course builder only lets you set up the sections and lessons in the course. The course editor page (if you go to the course and, in the black admin bar at the top of the page and click “edit course”) it seems like this is added on the “Course Information” block based on what I can see of the coding around the paragraph. You’ll want to look for it on that page. Keep in mind, if you edited the course page in Elementor, you may have to revert back to the regular editor to find this block.

If you could provide us with some screenshots of the other issues you’re experiencing that will help us provide a more direct answer since we aren’t able to access the backend of the site!

If you have any further questions, please let us know!

    Thanks and take care,

Concerning the paragraph that I can’t remove. You said: “You’ll want to look for it on that page [Course Page}. Keep in mind, if you edited the course page in Elementor, you may have to revert back to the regular editor to find this block.” I went into LifterLMS Courses and selected TH001 – Introduction to Bible Doctrine. I was carried to the course page. [Edit with Elementor] is in the text box. When clicking on the Elementor link I am carried to the course page (Elementor). All the text I want is there: Course Description, Delivery Method, Course Requirements, and How to download the course’s ebooks.

You said to switch to the WP Editor. I click on the link box at the top. I’ll send screenshots in the following post.

Here is the LifterLMS System Report. I send the others things as I figure out how to do them:

Here is the Drop Box link to Screen Shots of the Access Plan. When I update access plan in WP Editor and refresh my website’s front end, the unwanted text remains.

When I update the access plan in Elementor and refresh my website’s front end, the unwanted text remains, also the unwanted paragraph remains.

When I leave Elementor and re-open the Introduction to Bible Doctrine course page, the access page visual and text tabs has the unwanted text back in the editor window.

    Hi,

Thank you so much for the screenshots, unfortunately it seems they’re set to private so I’m not able to access them. Can you set the two PDF pages to public (you shouldn’t have to set your whole box to public). There’s information that here: https://help.dropbox.com/files-folders/share/set-link-permissions

Can I ask if, when you created this course, you cloned it from a previously existing course? We’ve been seeing this issue crop up over the past few days with cloned courses and were wondering if that was perhaps how this started with yours as well?

Can you let us know if that was how you built this course you’re having this issue with? Also, if you’re able to get those screenshots to us!

    Thanks and take care,

Try this link. I only have the basic free plan. When I created this link the setting said: Anyone with this link can view the folder.

If this doesn’t work, I’m ready to delete the course and re-create it. I have the videos and the pdf files.

I won the prize in the recent webinar with Chris Badgett (How to Create an Online Course Website with WordPress in 2019). The prize was one of the addon products. I was wonder about the Assignment addon. All of my courses are “free”, no charge. I plan for my students to only watch the video lessons and read the companion pdf eBook for each Lesson. Is this the way to go for my delivery needs or do I already have the means to do this in the basic LifterLMS plan?

    @dr_dad

This is a bug in the LifterLMS core that I’ve been struggling to find an acceptable resolution for for several weeks. The bug report can be found here: https://github.com/gocodebox/lifterlms/issues/777

Essentially what happens is the presence of a “Classic Editor” block copies the content of that block into the access plan description.

I’ve tried dozens of different things to fix this but I can’t find a solution other than simply NOT USING classic editor blocks on courses.

I haven’t found a really good reason why this isn’t an acceptable solution (other than it’s annoying and a bug is a bug).

You can convert the classic block to other blocks (paragraphs, images, videos, etc…) and then delete the content from the access plan and you’ll be good to go.

WE will get the bug fixed at some point but this is the only solution I have available to you at this moment.

Let me know if that helps,

    Thanks Thomas,

You wrote: “You can convert the classic block to other blocks (paragraphs, images, videos, etc…) and then delete the content from the access plan and you’ll be good to go.”

Thomas, this went over my head. I’m sorry, but do I open the LifterLMS course file (located at LifterLMS => Course => file TH001 – Introduction to Bible Doctrines) in WordPress Editor? The first part that is showing in the active website (Not Dashboard) comes from the Elementor Editor. Do I open the file in WP Editor, Elementor, etc.; or what? What is the classic block?

Here is a Dropbox file that shows what I’ve done and the problem I’m facing in editing this file. The Dropbox setting for this link says: Can view. Anyone with this link can view the file. This is the Dropbox link:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/orqz8gcioz2ke7n/Global%20Christian%20Learning%20Center%C3%BCs%20Website%20Screen%20Shots%202.pdf?dl=0

I’ve thought about deleting this course file and starting over, but I’m afraid I’ll face the same problems.

What do you think of my creating this file in Elementor Pro? I could put everything in an Elementor page (Title, Course description, Course Instructor information, Access Plan, etc.), but, I have no idea how to integrate the Elementor page with the LifterLMS Course Builder (Sections and Lessons). I’m thinking about getting the Assignment addon. I won the drawing when I watched Chris Badgett’s recent Zoom training.

Can you help me? Thanks for what you already have done!!!

    Hi @dr_dad,

    Thank you for the screenshots!

On the WordPress Editor do you have a pricing table block that you can also send us a screenshot of?

Additionally, you can try to remove the Classic block at the very top of the page and the block with the issue to “Resolve”, if you save any information you want from that block, you can likely remove that as well and see if that resolves the issue in the access plan.

However, if you have a pricing block on that Editor it may be pulling some information that it shouldn’t, and it would help if we could see that as well.

Thank you for your patience while we troubleshoot this!

Let us know if you have any further questions for us!

    Thanks and take care,

    1. You replied from above: “On the WordPress Editor do you have a pricing table block that you can also send us a screenshot of? “On the WordPress Editor do you have a pricing table block that you can also send us a screenshot of?” And then “However, if you have a pricing block on that Editor it may be pulling some information that it shouldn’t, and it would help if we could see that as well.”

My Reply: I can’t find a pricing table block on the WP Editor. I’ll send current screenshots.

    2. You replied from above: “Additionally, you can try to remove the Classic block at the very top of the page and the block with the issue to “Resolve”, if you save any information you want from that block, you can likely remove that as well and see if that resolves the issue in the access plan.”

My Reply: I was able to remove the blank classic blocks. (Now look at first block) This block said it was a Classic block in Paragraph format. The first paragraph was showing in bold, heading 3 type. I added additional text into the block (copied from my saved WordPerfect file), highlighted all the text in the box, and clicked on Bold Heading 3. After Updating, I wanted to add two headings to this box. I was able to add the first heading (Course Description), with heading 3. I added the second heading (Course Requirements), but I wasn’t able to make it heading 3 or bold. (What did I do wrong?)

The next box that is seen is Course Instructor. How do I add my photo in the oval in this section?

I also removed the Access Plan box. When I scrolled down below the list of my courses, there are four boxes: Yoast SEO, Course Options, Access Plans, and Student Management.

I did nothing in the Yoaast SEO Box.

In the Course Options, Restrictions, Content Restricted Message, I have entered (from before) this statement: “You must be registered through the Access Plan before you can enroll in any course and its content.

In the Access Plans, Free Plan (ID#740) Purchase Link; everything is the same from before. Where do I find the ID#740 statement? (I’ll include a screenshot of the “opened” Access Plans section.)

There is nothing in the Student Management box.

Here is the DropBox link. When I created this link the setting said: Anyone with this link can view the folder.

    Hi @dr_dad,

    Thank you for the screenshots!

I apologize for the confusion, the “Pricing Table” is the Access Plan block. You will definitely want that one in there. However, it might help to have deleted it and now to add the block back in fresh.

To do this, you’ll want to follow these steps: https://lifterlms.com/docs/new-editor-wordpress-5-0-and-gutenberg-getting-started-guide/#blockage and select the “Pricing Table” to add it back in.

Once you update, do you see not he front end the Access Plan table back, and does it still have the unwanted text?

In regard to the Instructor avatar we have information on using this feature here: https://lifterlms.com/docs/use-gravatars-lifterlms/#lifterlms

Let us know if you need further clarification on getting the Pricing Table back on the site!

    Good Afternoon, Natalie!

I followed your instruction and re-installed the LifterLMS Pricing Table. The unwanted text is back. Here is a screenshot from my Dashboard > Courses > TH001 – Introduction to Bible Doctrines. The “Can view” setting reads “Anyone with this link can view the file.”

I went to Gravatar.com and set up my profile and photo. I was already a member. I didn’t remember that. You can see the avatar photo in the screenshot above.

    Many thanks!!!
