• Hey, new here so apologies of I’m in the wrong place.
My website was created some years ago by a friend I am no longer in contact with so everything is set to their email. I noticed recently that my site was down (link provided) so tried to login to WordPress admin. It had been sometime since I had used that site (it’s more like an archive of past work) and I can’t remember what the password is. If I try to reset it it goes to my friends email and like I said I can’t contact them.
Is there anything I can do to recover my site? I can prove it’s my intellectual property etc. I’m feeling quite desperate about it as I also ran a blog with some family photos posted that I no longer have.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • The URL you provided didn’t work but I looked at your username here and checked amoredemori.com instead and that one shows as hosted at namecheap.com who might be able to help you if that is your domain name.

That site seems to broken right now also so if that is your’s then you’ll need to deal with that.

And this article here should be able to help you also. https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/resetting-your-password/

Apologies yes that was a typo.
It is named with namecheap but that is solely the domain name. The site itself is created with wordpress
Unfortunately none of those options will work as like I said I am not the person with the original email address.
What I need is some way to contact WordPress and prove it is my intellectual property despite not having the original email. I have done this before on other sites when I’ve been locked out and the email I signed up with became discontinued

I might be wrong but the website for that domain shows Namecheap as the host so my best advice would be to start with them.

It does not show WordPress dot com as the host which is the only WordPress domain that provides hosting. You could be running the CMS WordPress software at NameCheap. If you are running WordPress the CMS software at Namecheap then the tips I gave you will get you fixed up if you can gain access to the host itself.

I’m a volunteer here at WordPress dot org where we support the WordPress software… we do not host websites here and can’t help you access your content except to provide the technical help you might need.

Are you sure you don’t want to follow my advice and see where it might lead? A simple IP address lookup of the DNS info for the site mentioned above shows a NameCheap server.

I’m not tech savvy at all so I’m sorry if I’m getting confused. Every time I logged into my site it was through WordPress. The person who made my site had added a lot of html so that it appeared not as a WordPress blog but as an independent site. From there I could add blogs etc but I never messed with the html. The only times I’ve talked to namecheap is to renew the domain.
I know if I can log back into my WordPress account all my blogs will be there and I can get the pictures etc from them

It was through WordPress software, but that software must reside somewhere. Somewhere other than www.ads-software.com. Sounds like it’s Namecheap. Looking at Namecheap’s services, they don’t just do domains. They do hosting too! They even do “WordPress”, which is just a service they made up to sound like they’re special at doing hosting.

Ok sure but regardless I still had a workers account attached to it that I used to log into but now can’t purely because of the I can’t remember the password and don’t have the email. It’s not due to namecheap that I can’t do this.

Wordpress not workers. And when I logged in it was through the usual WordPress login

Essentially what I’m asking is how do I go about retrieving my WordPress account when all I have is a user name and no password or email

What is your website? This can’t be it: https://www.amoredemori.com/

    WordPress isn’t there.

My guess is all name cheap does is provides the custom url and then diverts the link to WordPress.
I know 100% that I used WordPress for admin and logged in to their official login

There is no WordPress hosting service and you need to understand this before we can help you.
