I haven’t done much with the following explanation. I do have a Courses page (GCLC’s Courses). My website is https://globalchristianlearningcenter.com/

My website will have Open Registration (student must agree to admissions policy). I’ve already set this up in LifterLMS’ Settings > Accounts > User Information Options, Terms and Conditions and Open Registration Fields. After a student has registered they should be directed to a custom catalog tab on the main menu.

I want to create a custom catalog that displays courses in three categories – Biblical Studies, Theological Studies, and Applied Life Studies.

Under each category I want my courses in a 9 section grid, per page. The content of the course will feature the course number and title, course description, course instructor, list of course’s content headings, and an Enrollment Button that will redirect to course enrollment details.

I want the custom catalog to appear on the main menu. I don’t want My Courses to appear on the main menu (to me having both on the main menu is confusing). I want the My Courses database (I don’t know what it’s called) to contain the full courses that can be access through the Enrollment Button and that the student’s enrolled courses will be listed in the Student Dashboard > My Courses tab and the left side heading My Courses.

I hope my thinking about this is sound. I need help in designing it. I haven’t been able to locate any help in the LifterLMS Search field.

    Thank You!!

  • Hi @dr_dad,

My courses refers to the courses a student is already enrolled in and this will only show up on their student dashboard when they are logged in.

If you want the main course catalog page that will show all the courses not on the main menu that is easy enough to do. You will just want to remove that page on the Appearance->Menus menu editor.

To create categories to sort your courses by you will want to use the information here: https://lifterlms.com/docs/using-course-categories/

And we don’t have a dynamic way to sort the courses on one page so you will want to make a page for each category that you want to have using this shortcode: https://lifterlms.com/docs/shortcodes/#lifterlms_courses You will want to make sure you have the “category” selector so that only the courses in the category you are creating the page for are displayed.

Let us know if you have further questions!

    Thanks and take care,

    Natalie,

Thanks for everything. The Catalog issues are settled, I hope. The changes seem to be working fine.
