• Myself and my business partner are co-admins on our site. Almost 2 weeks ago, both of us started getting messages saying 1 login attempt remaining when logging out. I removed a plugin I thought might be giving us a problem. Everything seemed to be fine. Today, the other person goes to log in and gets a message saying too many failed login attempts, check back in 12 hours. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks.

  • It’s probably your Web Firewall… sounds like something that might happen when running WordFence or some of the other firewall/security plugins.

FTP in or use your Control Panel’s File Manager to rename the plugins directory (I just add 1234 to the directory name) to temporarily kill all your plugins. If I’m right then that should let you in. Else, call your web host and ask them if they have a firewall running on your website.

When this problem first started, I uninstalled WordFence.

We have a WordPress hosting plan, so we don’t have anything that gives us FTP access.

Well, call your host and ask them for some help then!

I contacted the host (GoDaddy) and they recommended I turn off our anti malware/spam plugins. That still doesn’t help. As a matter of fact, one of us is getting “wait 24 hours” to log in again. We have a second WordPress site through them and are having no issues with that site.
