If I add custom code like Google Analytics to my template and then modify it and upload it again, I lose such custom code. Is there a way around this to keep the custom code intact while making minor changes to the template?
    Thank you.

  • You can only “lose” code in a template by over-writing it. Is that what is happening?

Yes. I have Google Analytics in the footer.php file. When I re-install the template with minor changes to it like colors etc. I lose that code.
    Thank you.

then youre removing the code when you edit the file.

the short answer to your question is yes — dont erase your edits, and make sure youre modifying the current file, and not a backup.

this sounds more like a user issue than a wordpress issue.

I think the problem lies in using an Artisteer template. When I modify anything, it seems a whole new template is generated with all old custom scripts being deleted.

Will ask them if it is possible to import the old template back for editing and then re-exporting it back.
    Thanks.
