• I have tried almost every option available in the free version including checking and unchecking the overrides, but the plugin insists on ignoring both the alt and title text that is in the media library. Instead it uses the page title along with the file name as the alt. NOT what I expected this plugin to do! I triple checked and there is no alt tag in the html code. I can provide screenshots if it helps

Okay, I think the problem happens when the alt is updated or changed in the media library AFTER enabling PB SEO Friendly Images. It seems that the plugin totally ignores everything if there are changes. Even after removing and then re-installing the plugin.

Due to the number of websites we manage (over 90 at this point) getting proper alts in place is something we work on in between everything else, so would it be possible for the plugin to “get a little smarter” and update alt changes?

    Hi,

the plugin catches any pieces of information directly from the database.
I can’t imagine that these replacements will not change accordingly with your text changes. Are you sure, that you use the correct replacement variables?

I’ve tried multiple times. I am adding or changing the alt text from inside the media library and I’ve tried this on 2 different websites and the same thing happens on both. Tried disabling the plugins and switching to the default theme but it still doesn’t show the correct alt.

Here’s a screenshot of the image in the media library and on the front page showing the alt in the inspector – https://www.greentech-services.net/stuff/sample-alt-issue.jpg

Here are the current default settings for the plugin, though I have tried checking/unchecking – https://www.greentech-services.net/stuff/plugin-settings.jpg

Let me add that I still really love your plugin and thank you for it!

I found the solution – under “alt scheme” it needs to be changed to “%media_alt” and then it works on all the websites I tested it on. Yay!
