Inventory “Managed by Square”, unbelievably terrible forced feature in 2.0.3
-
Now on all products in Woocommerce that are synced with Square, you cannot change the stock level on Woocommerce at all!! It’s greyed out and you need to change the stock level on Square and wait for the sync to happen. This is terrible as Woocommerce is meant to be the commanding lead side and this plugin is just to make sure that Square is up to date with the website, not the other way around. Of course, any stock changes on Square (products going through the till at the shop) should update the stock on Woocommerce, but not overwrite all the data on Woocommerce and lock it down.
I just found the new ‘Product system of record’ option but that doesn’t seem to be a lot, and the damage is already done as the second you turn on the plugin it’s syncing from Square over the top of Woocommerce.
Also it’s random which products are synced with Square, as far as I’ve checked, about 50% of mine don’t have the ‘Sync With Square’ checkbox ticked and you’d have to go through every single product individually to see whether it is or not and check it. Not great when there’s over 1000 products. This is meant to be time saving, not a complete nightmare. There needs to be a bulk ‘check/uncheck all sync checkboxes utility’.
Finally if a product isn’t found on Square it comes up with an error, rather than importing the product from Woocommerce. Really it’s a list of stuff that the plugin has failed to send from Woocommerce to Square in the past. As it is I think that version 2 should be scrapped and totally rethought. If the development team doesn’t know what version 1 was about they should perhaps ask customers.
