I installed my wordpress blog and everything has been going fine, but I have to logon with my username as admin. I manually set up my SQL database and did everything right it seemed, but I can’t logon with the username that I chose. My password works fine and everything about the blog is functional. can I change it by simply modifying the wp-config file?

What would I have to do in order to not mess up the posts and everything else that I have written?

    Thanks

  • you have to change the admin user name directly in the database

    log in to phpmyadmin
click on browse icon by wp_users
next page click on pencil icon to edit admin name
    change name to desired
click on “go” at bottom of page
    done
