adding page to Home instead of blog posts?

Hi,

Instead of blog posts appearing on the home page, am I able to display a Page (EG – About) on the home page instead.

Alternatively if this is either not possible or it involved full on coding, is there a way I can insert text content that will appear above the blog posts but only appear on the home page?
