I’m still waiting for things to slow down with a client before I continue to work on the Payment Gateway issue I last posted about, but for our own retail site, we pushed on with 2.0.3 and got everything working how we needed it to, employees re-trained on the process, etc.

Upon the upgrade to 2.0.4 today, I just wanted to report that somehow the System of Record was changed to Square YET AGAIN, even though it has always been WooCommerce, and I set it explicitly again under 2.0.3 and everything was syncing fine. I thankfully caught the issue and was able to change the SOR (for what is literally the 5th time since the 2.X series started).

I’ve honestly never seen issues like this on such a widely-used plugin. I commend the amount of support that gets given here on the WP forums, being that this is ultimately a free plugin, but the QA process clearly needs some work. If there is any testing being done before plugin updates are released, can I recommend a LOT more of it, or to gather WooCommerce/Square power users into a beta group where updates can be tested.

The main usage of WooCommerce and Square together is for small business, and missing out on sales, having to pay for tech support (which we happily provide to our clients but is, in this case, unnecessary), and having a broken experience for both customers and employees is really making it hard to keep recommending Square when we build out an E-Commerce project.

  • This happened to my site too. And now I can’t update our inventory from Woocommerce, even after changing it back to Woocommerce is the System of Record! Any suggestions by chance?

    Hi All,

Upon the upgrade to 2.0.4 today, I just wanted to report that somehow the System of Record was changed to Square YET AGAIN, even though it has always been WooCommerce, and I set it explicitly again under 2.0.3 and everything was syncing fine. Does this happen within a certain time frame? When we originally released Square (ver 2.0/2.0.1) it was doign this within the first few minutes, and if it was not caught in time it would set all product levels to 0. This is one of the major reasons we decided to roll back the plugin initially.

Thank you for the kind words on this, and as mentioned above this was one of the reasons we decided to roll back the plugin initially. We have not seen it happen since the release of 2.0.3 and also 2.0.4, so I am curious if something else might be conflicting with it on .4.

Please let me know if this is the case – where within a certain time frame it happens with the System of Record. Also be sure to turn on logging and select it to Save to Log so that we can see more details when it syncs – post the logs here in a reply ??

For this, disconnect and then re-connect Square manually, and do a different sync. Let me know if this works in the Logs!

    Hi @willpresleyev,

Were you able to see any new issues after disconnecting and re-connecting Square? If so please post them here, but it should have fixed it. I am going to go ahead and mark this as Resolved however if you reply to it the thread will re-open.

    Have a great day!
