I’ve put together a test catalogue and added two products to it.

I’m now trying to create a test page to view the catalogue. I’ve tried doing this in a couple of ways but both have failed.

Method 1 – I’ve added a Display Product Catalog Block, and I’m not sure what to add in the right hand side menu under ID. I’ve tried the shortcode [product-catalogue id=’1′] and then different combinations of this (1, id=’1′, id:’1′) but nothing works. On viewing the page I can only see the heading and that’s it.
Method 2 – I’ve tried adding the shortcode [product-catalogue id=’1′] onto a text block on the page, but when I do this wordpress won’t update the page. In addition, I tried adding in a shortcode block, and adding in [product-catalogue id=’1′] but again, wordpress won’t update the page when this happens. I just get a message saying update failed.

I should add I’m using the standard WordPress Multisite installation on Google Cloud Platform (I’m not using the bitnami version).

I think the solution is really simple, and it’s just something stupid that I’m doing but I can’t see any hints in any of the documentation or YouTube videos.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi situl,

It might be something as simple the quotes used in the shortcode.

For example, we noticed in your message the shortcode you mentioned contains rich and plain text quotes.

So as a test, could you try copying/pasting this exact code into a blank page:

    [product-catalog id='1']

    Hi there.

I’ve tried copying this onto a blank page, and when I try to save changes, I get a red bar appear across the top of the page saying “Updating Failed.”

    Hi @situl,

Could you try using the Gutenberg block and see if that makes a difference?

If that didn’t work could you try the following:
    – Deactivate all other plugins but ours and see if it works now?
    – Switch to WordPress’s default Twenty Nineteen theme and see if it works now?

If the solutions above didn’t work, could you email us [email protected] with some screenshots of your setup, along with a URL to your site? Make sure to reference to this thread.
