How do I delete my administrator account WP won’t let me

    My website is still in construction I have created a new administrator (so that my site is less hackable) but cannot delete my original administrator it says i can edit but no option to delete can anyone help me with this? many thanks

  • If it is the only user you will not be able to delete it.
    If you added a user to have someone else help you with the site then you need to log into the other admin account to delete the one you added for the other person.
    By the way, some well known wordpress specific hosts add an admin account that can not be deleted as long as you are on their hosting service that allows them to access the site for you and debug stuff if you contact them.

    Hey,

    If you have access to the Cpanel, then please follow these steps, it’s pretty straightforward:
    1) Login to the Cpanel
    2) Click on ‘PHPMyAdmin’
    3) Select your WordPress database on the left pane
    4) Navigate to and click the table wp_users.
    5) Simply click the ‘delete’ link for the Admin user you would like to delete….
    That’s all.

    Please tag as resolved once done.

    Mustapha’s solution works as well but can cause some problems later. Be very careful doing this via his method.

    6. Click on the options table WP_user.
    7. Now choose the Delete option.
    8. For admin user, you want to delete.
    9. The problem is solved.

    I do not recommend deleting a row from wp_users, as there are associated rows in other tables that will be orphaned and may create bad side effects.
