• Hi

My WordPress sites can send out normal emails.

But Invite Anyone emails, for some reasons, cannot be sent.

What would be the possible reason?

    Thank you

Can you confirm that other *BuddyPress* emails are sent? For example, if you request membership to a private group, does the administrator get an email? Or, do users get email notifications of private messages?

Yes, I just tested sending a private message and Buddypress notification email is sent immediately

The same thing has been happening with me for a long time, was there any kind of possible answers about this?

I tried also on a staging site with default 2019 theme, and deactivated every plugin except for buddypress and this. It still wouldn’t work.

The only other possibility I can think of is that I am using the same email accounts over and over for test users, and the test users are deleted then rejoin, etc. So the only thing I can think of is if maybe it works, but only if a user hasn’t joined/unjoined the site already.

Same issue here.. Running WP Mail SMTP 1.6.2, Buddypress 5.0, wordpress 5.2.4

Getting other site messages, not invites.

Need to switch to another plugin? Is this dead?

Same issue here, not received any error,

Same issue here – tragic that there is no response.

@boonebgorges is this compatible with latest versions of buddypress and wordpress? they should really build this into buddypress but you rule for making it such a key thing

    Nope, not dead.

This shouldn’t be the case. If the user account is deleted, then IA should allow you to send invitations to the email address.

Yes, the plugin is compatible with the latest versions of BP and WP. I know that users in this thread have reported problems with invitation emails being sent, but I have been unable to reproduce these problems. The issues likely arise from specific configurations, perhaps related to outgoing email tools like SMTP plugins, but I’m afraid I can’t know unless the users experiencing problems are able to give more details about their setup.

Just updating… my fix ended up being a clean import of the IA database tables. I made a new WordPress site with only IA and buddypress, then exported IA table(s) from the database. Then I imported that file into the site and database where it wasn’t working. This fixed it in my case. It was something to do with the database, but deleting the plugin and then reinstalling the plugin didn’t fix the issue (I tried that many times and cleaned the database). But a clean new import of IA tables into the database directly fixed it.

@jojopa Could you tell please, where to find these AI database tables? Is this a separate, or they are part of other tables?

@boonebgorges I found that the $do_bp_email from by-email.php (line 1358) was the problem for me, so I commented the case and leave just the wp_mail method and now I’m able to send email invitations. I hope that helps to find the real issue.

@giumagnani Thanks for posting this. It suggests that the Invite Anyone email template was not properly created. Go to Dashboard > Emails, and look for one with the description “A user is invited to join the site by email. Used by the Invite Anyone plugin.”

Currently, there’s no way to trigger the creation of this email through the UI. I can consider building a repair tool that will do it. In the meantime, the following tool should do it: https://gist.github.com/boonebgorges/03945bad2fd6870f608eb5affd853f83
