XML Sitemap Generator for WordPress 3.1.5

  • Having some issues with the lated XML Sitemap Generator. I know have 2 websites with the same problem. Both are giving me the following error:

    “The last build succeeded, but the file was deleted later or can’t be accessed anymore. Did you move your blog to another server or domain?”

    I have not changed the location of the sitemap.xml file or made any changes to the url domain, etc… I have also made sure the permissions are set properly on the .xml file.

    Any ideas on how i can resolve this.

  • I have the same problem. I did delete the two xml files from my root directory when I uninstalled the plugin, but restored them. Now uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin continues to generate this error message, whether or not the two files are present.

    Yes, same thing here.

    I’ve solved it.

    Go into the plugin configuration settings and click on the question mark next to “Enable manual sitemap building via GET Request”

    Click on the link it provides – it should take you to your blog.

    Then, go back to the plugin configuration settings and tick the check box next to “Enable manual sitemap building via GET request” and save your settings.

    Once you’ve done that, click on the “rebuild the site map manually” link and you should find the error has gone away ??

    hmmmm. Still not working for me. Thanks though.

    Do you have both the xml and the zipped sitemap options checked in the configuration panel? If not, try checking them both and rebuilding the sitemaps.

    Make sure that both files exist on your server of course.

    No, I don’t typically generate the zipped file so I don’t usually have that checked. The sitemap.xml file does exist and is set with the proper permissions too.

    I think you need to check the zipped file and make sure that it exists along with the straight xml file. It could be all that is causing you to see the error.

    I just unchecked it and the error returned – the zipped file was still in the root. As soon as I checked it again the error disappeared.

    Can’t think of anything else to suggest, sorry.

    ha! That worked. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Quite the little bugger i must say. It really shouldn’t be like this but I’m glad you figured it out. Thanks again.

    I only ran into the problem following investigation into a sudden and complete lack of search engine robots visiting my sites which made me start playing around with the settings.

    After a couple of days I realized that it wasn’t an issue with this plugin (at least I’m pretty sure it wasn’t) but during the course of my testing I caused the error. Anyway, glad I was able to help ??
