[Bug] Email’s language depend on Admin’s setting preferences

  • Hi Support.

    I got weird behavior. My client’s website is Thai language as default setting.
    There are admin 1 who setup his language to English. And
    admin 2 who setup his language to Thai (Default site)

    When admin 1 do some action on orders that sending email. ex: processing, completed, etc. Customer will get English language email.

    When admin 2 do some action on orders that sending email. ex: processing, completed, etc. Customer will get Thai language email.

    What I expected. Customer should get Thai language email which is the default site’s setting.

    Hi @fourkosi sorry to hear about the trouble. I saw a similar problem last week on a site using WPML to show different languages – is your site using that too? If so please reach out to WPML support for assistance, I believe they have a solution.

    Loco Translate does not control, or interfere with the language setting returned from get_locale or get_user_locale.

    It stands to reason that if you’re logged into the admin area, translations according to the current user setting would be used. WooCommerce would have to override this to send a customer an email in their language while someone else is logged in. Such a function has nothing to do with my plugin which simply saves MO files to disk.

    why am i suddenly getting notifications and emails in foreign language insted of english?

    Hello @kbassart and @stephjacq

    I can confirm I have the exact same issue here. When admin is logged in the backend with default English language profile and it sends manually a WC email to a customer (from the order section) the email is being received in English instead of the local set language of the website. When I change my admin profile to the local site’s language, it’s being sent in that language.

    We do not use any WPML plugins, everything is original WooCommerce and hardly any 3rd party plugins. I tested below in the default WC storefront theme.

    Another additional thing is that Billing Address is untranslatable. See here the Dutch version:

    The same string is also problematic in the Order’s My Account section:

    Please give us an outcome what to expect here. Do you have any Github pull requests we can follow?
