RSS taking wrong update time

My fan site https://www.gossy.us uses the rss widget on the homepage to pull in the latest posts from a forum.

The forum feed url is https://mattgossforum.invisionzone.com/index.php?act=rssout&id=1 and if you compare this with my homepage https://www.gossy.us you will see what its doing is pulling threads by created time instead of threads by last updated.

I’m baffled as to what’s causing this. For info I’ve applied a fix to functions.php so it should update every half hour as posted on https://www.village-idiot.org/archives/2009/08/04/fix-the-rss-update-time-on-the-wordpress-rss-widget/
