    Hi,

    All of a sudden a couple of days ago, I discovered my Meta Description on all of my posts weren’t being picked up by Google. I contacted Yoast support who replied with the following:

    Hi @40andholding,

    I’ve inspected the source of your URL and found that the generated HTML is missing some double quotation marks (“).

    That being said, your tags are currently like this:
    – <meta name=description content=”…”>
    It should be like this:
    – <meta name=”description” content=”…”>

    The missing double quotation marks around description (but also for most other tags) are causing this snippet to be invalid. If you are using any caching/minifying plugins, please turn them off temporarily and check the source again to see if the double quotation marks are back.

    Google is showing a text snippet from the content because it cannot find a valid meta description tag.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I disabled the Total Cache Plugin as they suggested and the quotation marks were back in the source code. When I explained to Yoast that I’ve been using your plugin for a while now and this just all of a sudden happened, they suggested I contact you.
    Are you aware of this problem and if so, what is the solution? Is there a setting that causes this that I should uncheck?
    Please advise.
    Thank you!
  • Hi @40andholding,
    I am happy to answer any questions you have about working with W3TC.
    The first thing I suggest is to turn off Minify in your General Settings to see if that fixes the problem with the quotations.
    If that does not work please let us know what settings you have configured so we can troubleshoot this problem further.
    Thank you for bringing this to our attention and I hope that we can get this sorted out for you.
