Show events in main blog loop by publication date

    I have The Events Calendar set to display events mixed in with regular blog posts on my home page. Unfortunately, they are now ordered by the event date, not the publication date. That means that future events now appear at the top of the home page, and sit there – sometimes for weeks – while new regular posts pile up beneath them out of site.

    I want to have the event posts in the main blog loop ordered by their publication date, not the event date. Is there a way to do this?

    I tried installing the Main Blog Loop Extension and setting that to display the posts by Publication instead of Event, but that overrides the WordPress default and reorders all the posts in the loop in ascending order, not just the events, so I end up with the very first post, from ten years ago or something, at the top of my home page…
