Click attachment and thumbnail with reply box gets wrong category

  • Can’t give link because its running on my local machine.

    I only have one post in a “News” category. I have created several other categories which don’t yet have posts. I upload an image as an attachment to the post in “News” category. This works fine but when I click on image, another screen displays with image thumbnail and reply box. The problem is that under the thumbnail it says “Posted in wrongcategory” wrongcategory being one of the categories I created but have no posts in. Trying to follow that link says not found and shows the search box.

    So somehow that thumbnail with reply box screen is picking up the wrong category for the post.

    Any clues on how to fix this? I have written my own theme but reverted to default theme just to check problem is there too, and it is.

    Should have said I’m using 2.8.4

    do one thing when you upload image on particular post at that time there will be displayed one File URL option… select none URL at the same place.

    Yes that stops the creation of the link to an image comment. 2.8.4 treats images as posts so they can be commented on. Stopping the creation of the link stops the ability to comment on the photo which may be a fix to stop the error showing but it doesn’t fix what looks like a bug.
    I have reported it to the bug people.
