    Hello everyone.

I’ve done a fair bit of searching on the forums this week and I’ve come up with many solutions to my problem but I did have a few more questions which I’m hopeful some of you will have time to answer.

I’m about to move from blogger to wordpress. I have over 3,000 posts on blogger and many, many images to move over. I was curious if I’ll be able to safely move over without touching the images which are stored on Picasa. The picasa account is a paid one however I do use blogger’s handy tool to upload them which could mean that the html used may present a problem during the move. Will I have to do the code all over again to get the images to work? Any easy way to do this……

Secondly, I’m going to self host WP on Bluehost. What’s the best way to set up the site as “dummy” so to speak to avoid bots and search engines picking it up before I officially go live with it?

I know I probably have a dozen more questions but at the moment these are my biggest concerns.

Thanks in advance to anyone who has time to reply.

  • I used a subdomain (test1.mysite.com) and installed a fresh wordpress instance there. You have to manually change the settings once in WordPress to allow search engines to crawl your site, so don’t worry about getting hit for dupe content while you’re working on that.

I’m not sure about picasa — though I imagine it would work. They aren’t hosted directly with Blogger. Perhaps someone else can confirm that for you!
