Login Problems – Take 10

  • Concerning WP 1.3 (Dec 20 build). I am having problems logging in to the admin area. Anytime I login I am redirected back to the login page. I have searched the forums and completed the database fix (home as well as password), as well as other potential fixes that may be related (edits in var, login, and a few other suggestions). My index.php is in my blog (WordPress) directory. I have cleared my cookies numerous times and am using the latest versions of IE and Firefox on 6 different computers running various versions of Windows. My Blog is on an ISP running Windows Server 2000.
    My initial install of 1.3 was an upgrade from 1.2. My install of 1.2 had a similar issue, but allowed me to access the control panel after redirecting me back to the login page. I have completed a fresh install of 1.3 to see if that would solve the issue and allow me to login, but it didn’t.
    This is what I receive after attempting to login.

    Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightly Builds! I’ve seen this around a lot the last few days. So far, the only solution seems to be waiting for the next Nightly Build and hoping that the issue has been fixed.

    How I “solved” the problem – I went back to the nightly builds and DL’d the builds after and prior to the 2004_12_20, which is the build that gave me the login problem. The last build that properly allows me to login is the build of 2004_12_18.

    Same thing here, and the same problem as half a year ago. I use parallel directories (site.com/wordpress and site.com/weblog). After two months of troubles someone posted a modified login.php which finally worked, and I read that the problem was fixed?

    It isn’t! Same thing happening again, and the old file is useless with the latest nightly build I’m using on a testblog. Tried several older versions of the file but with no result.

    I want to play with a betaversion and don’t mind problems, but I want to get in first!!

    Correction: I c??n login with the old file, although it looks broken, but it works!

    I made it into a textfile, so if someone wants to find out why an old file let’s me login to the latest nightly build where the latest login-file fails to do so:
