Sorry for a newb question, but I guess that’s why the forum is here… ??

So I just installed and ran the program to upload to my Google Drive account. I logged into Google Drive and found 30 files. I’m guessing these are all partial files that make up the whole?

Other question…could I run a backup on a few different sites I have and then run a restore on another host? Right now I have Godaddy (for over 10 years) and am thinking of switching to another host, maybe hostmonster or hostgator? So could I backup while hosted with Godaddy and then restore to my new hosting provider? Thank you.

    Hi Steve,

    Sorry about the delay.

Yes the backup gets split into different entities (Database, themes, plugins, uploads, others)

Each entity if it’s a large amount also gets split up so for example if you have a lot of uploads then you may end up with a few uploads zips (uploads, uploads2, uploads3 etc)

Yes you could run a backup and upload to Google Drive on multiple hosts, please note that with the free version of UpdraftPlus all Google Drive backups will go to the same backup folder ‘UpdraftPlus’.

To answer your final question yes you could restore your backups on another host, one thing to note that with the free version of UpdraftPlus the URL on the new site would need to be the same as the original, other wise you will be left with URL’s pointing to the old site.

    Best Wishes,

    Ashley
