• Hello,

I have this problem where I’m using a self-hosted WP.

Everytime I click on save draft after editing a post, the page goes blank. (Sometimes my document was saved and sometimes not).

I think some codes have already crashed. Please may I know how do I resolve this problem or can I just remove any plugins or themes in order try to solve this problem?

I’ve tried to reinstall WP in my server (Without replacing Wp-Content) but it doesn’t help.

Even when I’m logging in to my page using /wp-admin now, it is showing a blank page.

    Thanks,
    Ben

  • Hi Ben,

I just discovered the same problem, running 2.8.2. Not a teckie here so am hesitant to upgrade to 2.8.4.

    Hoping someone has a solution:-)

    Rick

I have the same problem with 2.8.4. I suspect this is a conflicting plugin issue, but I have not so far found the eventually troublesome plugin.

The blank page might be the result of too heavy memory load. You can, if you are able to, increase the PHP memory limit. Delete all post revisions and clean up your database table, using a plugin like wp optimize, for instance.

Thanks Thor. This is a new blog so I’m thinking this might not be a memory issue. That said, I will try WP Optimizer. Thing is, I get the warning: This plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress. Did you install this successfully on 2.8.4?

Would you, perchance, be using PowerPress? Great podcasting plugin that I upgraded last night. Everything worked fine for awhile but now…

    Rick

It is a good idea anyway to upgrade to 2.8.4 to avoid the worm crawling around now. But, as I am beginning to suspect, the problem originally mentioned simply must be plugin related. I have one prime suspected plugin at my site: si-contact form ver 1.6. Version 1.5 runs on another site of mine and works perfect. Are you using this plugin as well?

No, I am not using powerpress, just a custom theme.

    Thanks again for your reply.

No, I am not using that plugin.

Do you use the automated installation process when you upgrade or do you do it manually? I have broken this blog a few times when upgrading plugins automatically (always back up the db when I do) and am a little leery to do it with the 2.8.4 upgrade.

I ALWAYS upgrade wordpress manually. I have tried to automatic update on one of my sites, and it halted and everything became a big mess. Trust your experience and do it manually!

    No worries, I will:-)

WP optimizer didn’t solve the problem, unfortunately.

If you come across the fix, please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Rick

    Hello,

    Thanks for your replies.

Previously I have no issue with my WP, but I tried using Wp-Optimizer and it shows a warning : “This plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress. Did you install this successfully on 2.8.4?”

After clicking on YES, my WP goes haywire and everytime I finished a post and clicked on “Save Draft”, it goes blank (I checked after a couple of minute and my post is actually saved, but its just showing a blank page instead of “Your post is being saved”)

    I tried solutions such as : –
    1. Removed most of the unimportant plugins and deleted them completely from my server.
    2. Re-installed WP automatically
    3. Removed my themes and tried other themes

I need a solution for this, thank you =)
